Forest Court Care Home

The Location

Forest Court is surrounded by glorious landscaped grounds situated in the picturesque countryside near Ross-on-Wye, just outside the village of Mitcheldean. Originally a private house it still retains many of its original period features, but has also been regularly thoroughly modernised to offer residents comfortable accommodation with full lift access throughout.

Our Objectives

We want our residents to feel at home with us no matter how long or short their stay. We aim to create a friendly and caring environment where residents are able to live the lifestyle they wish to.

Forest Court maintains the highest standard of care, yet we realise the importance of striking a balance between providing care when needed and helping the resident be as independent as possible as our home is designed to encourage mobility in a safe and supportive environment.

Types of Care

At Forest Court we are one of the leading providers of specialist Dementia Nursing Care as we focus on the individual and choices. We also provide Respite, Palliative and Convalescence Care. Personalised, expert care is based upon the person first, with staff building a detailed picture of the residents life. Our nursing equipment such as profiling beds, moving & handling equipment is updated frequently to ensure we are able to cater to our resident needs in the safest possible way.

A care home must be a home from home as much as possible as this is what Forest Court Care is all about. Sometimes it is the little things that can make all the difference in making sure that the residents enjoy a real quality of life.

Care

The care at the home is directed by the Manager and the Deputy, who in turn have strong support network of staff from our fully trained Nurses on duty 24 hours per day, Senior Care and Care Assistants. Each resident is assigned a named nurse or key carer. This allows us to create a personal care plan to meet the residents needs and ensures we understand their particular likes and dislikes. A local General Practioner (GP) visits the home on a regular basis, however, we understand that a resident may wish to remain with their current GP and this can be facilitated.

Catering

We are proud to have been awarded a 5 star food hygiene rating. Mealtimes are an important part of the resident days. Soon after arriving our chefs will discuss with the resident and families their personal preference and dietary needs to ensure we create balanced meals using the freshest ingredients. We understand swallowing can be challenge especially for people with Dementia, and the need to have not only nutritious food but also well presented, so our chefs will go the extra mile to make sure that our modified food is prepared to the same standard. We can also facilitate for families to join their loved ones during mealtimes.

Activities

Activities are an important part of the day for our residents. Our dedicated Activities team will help to settle the residents in as quickly as possible and discuss about past experiences and current interests. A variety of programmes are arranged, designed to bring out the interests of our residents. In addition bedside visits, small groups and one to one activities can also take place to ensure no one misses out. We regularly have specialist activities from outside resources, singers and people playing musical instruments tend to be popular ones, entertainment with falcon birds, as well as themed parties for friends and families to join in. It is also important to ensure residents are engaged and are able to go out into the community, so where possible we like to encourage our mobile residents to get out and about. These can be trips to the seaside, cinema, theatre shops or even just popping to the local for pint or two! All of these are possible with our onsite vehicle.

Visiting

We understand the importance of our residents having regular contact with family and friends, in line with published guidelines. To allow for this, we have converted one of our rooms into a purpose built visiting room, which can be accessed without having to go through rest of the home. Visits will need to be booked in advance to ensure the safety of all our residents.

Key Features

What Our Client Say

Dad is 92-years-old and has Alzheimer's. He has been at Forest Court since August 2019. Whenever I visit unannounced, I find him smiling, warm and smartly dressed. To simply sit holding his hand while we enjoy a pot of tea and biscuits; is a total joy after the exhaustion and worry of caring for Dad

Susan M
(Daughter of Resident)

My husband has been in this care home since October with dementia. His care has been marvellous. Through the illness, he is very aggressive at times they calm him and treat him so well. I don't know where we would be without them. Nothing is too much trouble. They give me support as well.

M K
(Wife of Resident)

This was our first choice of care home, and we were so lucky to get Mum in. The staff are very caring, and the treatment was excellent. Mum was always treated with respect and love. The home is friendly and welcoming. The staff always keep you informed and involved in decisions.

J J
(Daughter of Resident)

The care my mum had from the staff I could not fault it in my eyes they were all angels. On visiting her we were always made very welcomed and offered refreshments and whoever let us in always knew where mum was. It broke my heart to see how quickly she deteriorated but the staff always found the time to talk to me and reassure me.

Geraldine C
(Daughter of Resident)

Since my uncle was moved from his previous care home. The specialist care he has received has been exemplary. This is by far the best home we have seen and had dealings with. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and are excellent at managing difficult behaviour.

A P
(Niece of Resident)

During my husband's stay, the staff and the care he receives have been excellent. When I arrive to see him, everyone is very welcoming, also friends and family say the same.

B B
(Wife of Resident)

This is the best care home I have had dealings with. The staff are friendly and show genuine concern for the residents. Management are very approachable and easy to deal with. Residents are well looked after.

A P
(Power of Attorney of Resident)

Mum could be challenging and stubborn, but the staff dealt with her admirably, coaxing and cajoling and offering a cup of team whenever she was upset. We were very happy with the care and compassion given to her by all of the staff. Residents are well looked after.

Sue B
(Daughter of Resident)

Forest Court has been my mother's home for a decade. It is a wonderful place. The staff and management have been excellent in every way.

Gary O
(Son of Resident)

The staff are always very welcoming and friendly. During a recent illness, my husband was very well cared for. I felt I could trust them to look after him. The home is always clean and fresh. I have no personal experience of the food but my husband always says he had enjoyed his lunch. The cakes look fantastic.

Valerie S
(Wife of Resident)

I've agonized about how to express my thanks, for the care my dear husband received at your care home. Absolutely nothing would be worthy of your superb care. So many fantastic nurses, who really, I'm afraid to mention by name for fear of missing someone out. Your carers who went beyond to to make Derek comfortable, especially towards the end. His hair, nails and cleanliness (was always impeccably) Your care and concern for me...the cups of tea, offers of food, and the odd biscuit there to tempt me. None of my words seem adequate for my appreciation, of FOREST COURT CARE HOME.
